Propeller Rendered Useless For SEO

It was yesterday when it happened. Trying to log in into my Propeller account, there was nothing but a page on the Propeller website saying that a big announcement was coming up. I didn’t know at the time why, but I had a really bad feeling when I saw that. And now I know why: because Propeller was perfect just the way it was, and in fact it was my favorite social site (yes, I liked it even better than Digg or StumbleUpon). I will explain why in an instance.

You see, for me it’s not about the thrill of getting on the front page of any particular social site, be it Digg or Propeller. I don’t really care for thousands of hits from social sites. No, but for me Propeller held a special SEO value.

You see, if you got involved in the Propeller community just a little bit and not just spam, you could easily have had a Page Rank 5 profile. I had a Page Rank 5 profile and it was incredibly useful (as you can easily imagine). Getting involved in the community could have easily gotten you 10 votes or more for each story, which meant that your profile page and post grew even stronger. It is not uncommon that because of this involvement I used to get Page Rank 3 even on some individual posts.

Besides mourning my links which are all gone now, there’s really not anything else to do. Will Propeller cleanse itself by losing the community of people who used it for SEO purposes? One of the purposes of the new design was just that, undoubtedly. But aside from the spammers, there were also people who used to get involved in the community, even though they used Propeller for their own sites also. Now, with no links on my PR 5 profile page, I will definitely take my leave also. Because even though I loved it as a community, my main concern is getting links, which is now impossible. Goodbye good old Propeller, I wish you a nice afterlife!
